The Wellness Problem
Who’s tired of being tired?
Yes?
I get it, I was there for a very long time.
So… who wants ‘advice’? Who wants to be told what they should be doing differently? To be enlightened to the ways of healthy eating and self-care?
What? No one? Really?
No one wants advice on how you ‘should’ be living your life? No one wants more things added to their must-do-now list??
I’m going to let you in on a little secret. You are not alone. NO ONE wants to told that all they need to do a little more of this, or eat a lot less of that.
Why?
Because most of us already know what it is we need to be doing differently.
What we need to do more of, what we need to eat less of.
We know we feel better when we drink more water and eat less processed foods. When get more sleep and exercise.
So then the question becomes – why aren’t we doing it?
Why aren’t you doing it?
What is the wellness problem?
Now of course we are individuals living our own unique life. Yet, when I ask my clients this question, it might surprise you to hear I tend to get very similar answers.
They are responses that mirrored my own. That sent me looking for a solution.
And this is what I found. We know our body. We know our life. Better than anyone else does. So, why are we not making the changes we need to, to have the lifestyle we desire?
Because we are tired. Tired of being tired. We have a LOT on our plate. The daily overload often becomes overwhelm. And there’s the stress. That comes with everything we need to take care of.
I found that for so many people, there is not enough time to make a change. There is not enough time left in the day to take on anything new.
Or when there is time…. We are just too tired.
The energy is not there to find the motivation for a different way. For change.
Because what we really want is for life to be simpler, not more complex. We want fewer things to do, not more.
You know what it means to eat well and live a healthy lifestyle. But it just doesn’t seem to fit into your life right now.
And this is where we get caught in the cycle. We don’t have the time, energy, or motivation to make the changes we know we need to. And because we can’t make them, we stay tried. Tired of being tired. And so it continues.
And it doesn’t magically go away when are kids are no longer babies. Life keeps getting busier. Work becomes more demanding. The people and responsibilities in our lives need us more. Unless we are able to create and maintain effective boundaries, the pressure builds.
This is not just a problem of health or diet or stress. It’s a wellness problem. Specifically, its an issue of well-being. How we show up, every day. How well our state of being is.
What can a health coach do about this wellness problem?
So if I, as a health coach, am not all about diets and meal plans, what kind of value can I provide? Can a health coach actually solve this wellness problem? How can a health coach impact your well-being?
The Wellness Solution
As a health coach I am in the business of transformation not information. You do not need to see me to get a shopping list. Or a meal plan and exercise schedule. Unless of course you have special dietary or physical requirements or interests. If that is the case, check out this post about the role of a health coach. I do know a lot about different styles of eating – I literally have a dietary theory library at my fingertips. But that is not the core of what I do.
In fact, I can give you that right now. Download this month’s guide and recipes right HERE.
I am not here to compete with Google. Because that would be silly. And completely unnecessary – lack of information is not the problem. And I am certainly not here to tell you what you have already figured out on your own.
As a health coach, I do not tell my clients what to do. That’s not why they work with me. I do help them find a way to achieve their health and lifestyle goals. Their goals. Their life. And I hold them accountable to those goals.
So you might say through me they tell themselves what to do 😉
A Health Coach and The Wellness Problem
As a health coach I am a goal based guide; I support individual transformation. I work beside my clients to find what is really holding them back from feeling their best. To find what their ideal health and well-being looks like.
Spoiler alert – I don’t tell anyone to practice more self-care or find time for themselves.
Why?
Because the women I work with already know that. They know self-care is important. That prioritizing themselves is important. Telling a busy, time-poor, overwhelmed parent they ‘need to take more time for themselves’? Well, it’s a really good way to get a well deserved tongue lashing. It’s also quite dis-empowering – we don’t need to hear about one more thing we are failing to get done.
What the women I work with tend to need is to find a way to simplify their life to best support their well-being. They need find a way to give them the time and energy necessary to think about self-care. To realistically consider taking more time for themselves.
To be the strongest version of themselves. So when the crap comes flying; and we know that inevitably it always does. When it gets hard, it does not become a question of whether they get knocked down. Because everyone gets knocked down sometimes.
It’s about how far down they fall and how quickly they can get back up.
How resilient they can be to the challenges of a busy life. To enjoy it, and not just survive it.
What I’ve found works best is a holistic approach. One that supports our physical, mental, and emotional health and wellness. As part of an active busy lifestyle – not in opposition to it.
You might not be able to do less. You might need to make some changes. But we can make it simple. And specific to you.
If you’re tired of being tired.
If you want to find more energy to simplify your world and improve your motivation.
Decrease the overload and overwhelm.
So you can feel your best, be your best.
Let’s get started.
Together, we can simplify the path to your well-being.
