Key Points

I work with Plan & Self Managed clients, I am not a registered NDIS provider.
My rates are standard across private and NDIS clients.
Nutritionist is my professional designation.
The support I can provide under the NDIS is diet and meal plan development.

I work with clients to reach their personal goals regarding food, nutrition, and dietary habits.

Let's work together

Nutrition coaching Services

My clients have found my coaching approach to food based changes makes it easier to stick to their prefered way of eating even on days when they are not feeling well.

How my services are different:

I specialize in nutrition and the role it plans in mental and physical health.
Everything we do together is individual and personalized; you will not be given a pre-made meal plan or set of rules to follow that do not consider your specific circumstances.
My approach is mostly virtuaral, I use a secure online platform to conduct Telehealth appointments. This means you can attend from wherever you are most comfortable and no one has to travel.
A secure communication platform is available to support clients in-between session using text and voice messaging.
As a peer I understand the challenges unique to individuals with a lived experience of mental illness.

What is the Structure of Diet and Meal Plan Development with a Nutritionist?

Individual goals and interests determine the frequency of sessions and tools we use. We define this structure together, which is part of the service agreement. A 'typical' design looks like this; meeting once fortnightly for 1 hour via my private telehealth platform. You might have actions to work on between sessions that align with the goals you've created.

In between sessions might include:

Building a new food or lifestyle habit.
Trying a new recipe.
Completing a food and mood journal.
Learning a new skill from the nutrition education tools we use together.

Every client has a different plan and utilizes various tools. Most importantly, the goals we set together for food support what you want to achieve and are not overwhelming. Making small, sustainable changes, I've found, is the secret to success.

You have access to me via a private and secure messaging app between our sessions. This communication allows you to ask questions as they arise and not wait until our next session together.

She helped me to put in place strategies to help me make good food choices on even my worst days.

The link between food & mood

As a Nutritionist I specialize in mental health nutrition. Current research has shown that what we eat can have a profound impact on the way we feel and our mental health. Studies out of Deakin University's Centre for Food & Mood has found that dietary changes not only improve mental health outcomes for individuals, it also saved them money on weekly groceries.

As a Nutritionist I specialize in mental health nutrition.  Current research has shown that what we eat can have a profound impact on the way we feel and our mental health. Studiens out of Deakin University's Centre for Food & Mood have found that dietary changes not only improve mental health outcomes for individuals, but also saved them money on weekly groceries.

Food and nutrition is too often overlooked when addressing mental health. This is a problem because in addition to the mental health outcomes associated with  dietary changes, individuals who experience mental illness have significantly greater risk factors for their physical health.  Food and nutrition can help support both mental and physical health.

Mental Health Nutrition Core Values

Always prioritize physical and emotional safety in all aspects of communication, coaching, and personalized advice. Nutrition considers both the physical health impacts of food as well as the mental and social health implications of dietary advice.

A trusting relationship build through the  transparency of respect, shared information, and communication. Many people have experienced discrimination and stigma regarding composition, weight, health, and lifestyle in respect to their diet and eating habits and how it impacts their mental health. My role as a Nutritionist is to trust that individuals are the experts in their own body and experience.

Our work together is a collaborative process where you, the client, brings their personal experience, goals, and desires, and I as the Nutritionist bring their nutrition science and coaching skills, as well as knowledge gained through experience as a peer. My role is to work beside by clients seeking dietary advice and meal planning support, always prioritizing your expertise in your body and experience.

The role of the Nutritionist is to support the nutrition and body composition goals of the individual, not dictate a plan or method. The  role of the nutritionist is to provide evidence based dietary advice and options to support those goals, always prioritizing the choice of the individual.

Empower individuals to have the food and nutrition knowledge and skills for lifelong dietary habits in line with their health and lifestyle goals. A key objective of nutrition coaching is to not need the services of a Nutritionist indefinitely, however the length of time needed is different for everyone and no particular timeframe is considered to be success of the objective.

Respect for the diversity of both individuals and their experiences. Culture, genetrics, family, heritage, socio-economics, politics, gender, sex, and identity all play a role in individual nutritional needs. As do past experiences and trauma. This at all times must be honoured when making nutrition plans and giving nutrition advice.

Hi! I'm Kristine Peter

I'm a Nutritionist, Health Coach, and Nutrition Educator. I love food, talking about food, and eating food, and I have graduate university qualification in both nutrition and education.

I'm also a mental wellness warrior, committed to supporting mental and physical health with nutrition and lifestyle habits. There is a large gap in services and support for people who want to improve both their physical AND mental health through nutrition, and I fill that gap with knowledge gained from professional experience, academic research and study, and personal lived experience.

As a Nutritionist and Coach I work with women who experience stress, low mood and energy to use sustainable nutrition habits to reclaim control of their lives and feel clearer, happier, and like themselves again.

I help my clients create simple, achievable, and affordable food plans and dietary habits to support them achieve their goals.

NOTE: Your goals, not my goals.

Health is about more than what we eat, but what we eat does impact our mental and physical health.

Busting nutrition myths and disrupting diet culture is both my passion and responsibility as a nutrition professional (Note: no fad diets here)

Eating well doesn't need to be difficult, time consuming, or expensive. It's both individual and accessible to everyone, and  we don't have to wait until we are unwell to focus on supporting mental and physical health through food and nutrition.

Food and nutrition for some people can be connected to traumatic events or periods in their lives. What can be helpful nutrition advice for one person might be harmful for another. For this reason my services are individualized and informed to meet specific clients needs.

My services include 1:1 virtual consultations (telehealth) via a secure platform, individualized nutrition advice and planning, secure ongoing communication for support and accountability (this means we talk between appointments because questions tend to happen when eating not just when attending sessions) meal planning, evidence based food and nutrition education, and a variety of other support, coaching, and education tools to help you achieve your goals and support your mental and physical wellbeing with food.

I work with both private clients and NDIS Plan & Self Managed clients; I am not a NDIS service provider.

Depending on your location and my availability in-person appointments can be considered, please contact me at kris@kristinepeter.com

I offer a free 30 minute Initial Consultation to see if working with a Nutritionist is the right fit for you.
